Product Description: The Hewlett Packard Laserjet 4100 series laser printer external duplex unit (HP C8054A), is designed to support all of the media types and sizes that the host printer supports, and is therefore the ideal solution to improve printing efficiency, productivity, and running costs, by allowing automated printing on both sides of any supported paper stocks. The unit will also expand your printer's versatility: you will be able to print and finish booklets, brochures, marketing materials, and more without the need to out-source your work. Installation is quick and simple, and can be performed by anyone ...see Note: below for more information. Once installed, your printer's depth remains the same, so you won't need to find more desk space.
Compatible with HP Laserjet 4100 (HP C8049A)/ 4100N (HP C8050A)/ 4100TN (HP C8051A)/ 4100DTN (HP C8052A)/ HP 4100MFP (HP Q9148A) Laser Printers. - Note: The HP Laserjet 4100 duplex unit will also operate on a HP Laserjet 4000/ 4050 series laser printer. It won't sit 'flush' with the rear of the printer ...there will be a slight gap. However, functionally it will be identical to the HP 4000/ 4050 duplex unit.
- Note: Once installed, your printer needs to be configured so that it will duplex all documents (DUPLEX ENABLED = ON*], or on a per document basis [DUPLEX ENABLED = OFF*]. When Duplex is set to 'OFF', you can control the duplexing behaviour for individual documents via the printer driver, provided that you have installed the 'D' (DUPLEX) version of your printer driver. If so, the DUPLEX option under PRINTER PROPERTIES may still display as NOT INSTALLED... simply change this to INSTALLED, and you should now have access to the duplexing features. If not, or if the DUPLEX option is not present, then you will need to delete the printer from PRINTERS AND FAXES, and uninstall the respective driver. You will then need to re-install the driver with the 'D' option.
- Printer Driver Installation Tip: When installing drivers for a printer that has upgrade options, such as network cards, extra paper trays, duplex units, stacker or stapler/stacker units, it is best to select the highest optioned printer, and install that driver... for example a HP Laserjet 4050 with NETWORK, DUPLEX UNIT, and extra 500 SHEET PAPER TRAY, would be installed as a HP 4050DTN (D=DUPLEX, T=TRAY, and N=NETWORK). The reason being that, if the options are not present, then they will simply be displayed as NOT INSTALLED under PRINTER PROPERTIES. However, support will be already be present, should you choose to add any options in the future, and hence you will avoid having to possibly re-install the printer as described above.
