The ink levels of Canon's Intelligent (Canon PGi & CLi) Series Cartridges is recorded in the chip IC. Most printers will accept a refilled cartridge that registers as empty. However, they will repeatedly display a warning message letting you know that the cartridge is empty each time you send a print job to the printer. You can disable the ink level monitoring altogether, but this may not be advisable because you will have to keep track of the ink levels yourself. If you do not, and one or more of the cartridges is dry, then you run the risk of doing serious damage to the printheads.
To avoid the hassles and potential problems associated with warning messages and monitoring ink levels, you need a means of resetting the ink levels, so that once you've refilled the cartridge, it will be recognised and registered as full by the printer. Our simple easy to use battery powered chip resetter is the ideal solution. Just place the cartridge in the slot and the chip resetter will automatically identify the cartridge and reset the IC chip to full again. As far as the printer is concerned, you now have a brand new cartridge.
